The Fox and The Crow Story
Once there lived an old granny in a small, beautiful countryside village. She was renowned for making delicious vadas. Every day, she would make vadas and sell them to the people in the nearby village.
One day, a hungry crow watched the old lady making her vadas and decided to steal one. The crow suddenly flew over and stole a vada while the old lady was busy with her work. It perched on a branch of a tree to eat it.
A fox, roaming in the same area and finding no food, saw the crow with the vada in its beak. Thinking quickly, the fox devised a plan.
Looking up at the crow, the fox said, “Hey Crow, you look so beautiful. I’ve heard that your voice is as beautiful as you are. Would you sing me a song with your sweet voice?”
The crow, falling for the fox’s flattering words, blurted out “Caw…Caw…Caw…” not understanding its trick. As the crow opened its beak to sing, the vada fell down. With a grin, the fox caught the vada and ran away. The crow realized her foolishness and felt sorry for being deceived.
The fooled crow once again stole another vada from the granny and sat on the branch to eat. The fox returned, seeing the crow with another vada. “Hey Crow, the food you gave was delicious, just like your song. Knowing I was hungry, you even gave me a vada to eat. I’m forever thankful for your kindness,” the fox lied.
The crow was puzzled, unsure if the fox was sincere. The fox sensed the crow’s hesitation, and immediately began to devise another cunning plan. “I don’t understand the meaning of a few words in your song. If you sing again, I might understand,” the fox said.
Now, the crow sensed the fox’s cunning tricks and carefully held the vada in her talons while singing for the fox, ‘Caw…Caw…Caw…’
Surprised by the crow’s cleverness, the fox made one last attempt to fool the crow. “Wow, your song is mind-blowing. Could you do me a favor by dancing to it?” the fox requested politely.
The crow, understanding the fox’s intentions, agreed to his request. But tactfully the crow placed the vada on the tree branch and began to sing and dance for the fox.
Once again, the fox’s plan failed, and feeling ashamed and angry, it ran away. The crow chuckled to herself and flew away to her nest, clutching the vada.
Moral
