Craft Essentials
- Free Printable: Download and print the grid template with green and blue rows and cutouts of land and water animals (available on our blog).
- Cardboard or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue stick or glue gun
- Pipe (or any sturdy small tube)
- Thread or string
- Hole punch
How to Make the Land & Water Animal Activity
Prepare the Grid
- Cut out the green and blue row grids from the printable.
- Glue these grids onto a piece of cardboard, cardstock, or a notebook.
- Punch holes on both edges of the cardboard, next to the green and blue zones.
Create Animal Cards
- Cut out the animal pictures from the printable into square shapes.
- Attach a small pipe to the back of each animal card using tape or a glue gun.
Assemble the Activity Board
- Thread a string through the pipe on the back of each animal card.
- Insert the same string through the holes on the grid and tie it securely at the back of the board.
How to Play
- Offer the prepared activity board to your child.
- Ask them to identify the habitat of each animal.
- Encourage them to slide the animal cards along the string to place land animals in the green zone and water animals in the blue zone.
